Valley Sports ReportWATKINS GLEN - The defending Section IV, Class C champion Lady Wolverines made quick work of Watkins Glen in a season-opening 3-0 sweep here Tuesday night in IAC South Large School Division volleyball action.
Waverly won the first two sets 25-8, and closed out the match with a 25-16 decision.
Junior Maddy Goodwin led Waverly with 11 service points, while junior Sidney Tomasso and senior Adrianah Clinton each had nine points, including five aces, and senior Paige Lewis had six points, including five aces, eight kills, two blocks, and five digs.
Senior Chloe Croft dished out 14 setter assists in the win, while senior Morgan Adams registered six kills, and sophomore Ayran Peters chipped in with three digs.
Waverly returns to action Monday when it hosts Odessa-Montour.
JV: Waverly swept Watkins Glen by scores of 25-22 and 25-17 in the junior varsity match.
Kennedy Herriman led Waverly with 13 points, including 12 aces, three assists, and two digs, while Aubrey Ennis had eight points (six aces) and two kills, Mia Bakley added seven points (three aces), and Sydney Nierstedt registered one block.
