SAYRE "" Jake Cochran completed his hat trick with 2:51 remaining in overtime to lift Galeton to a 3-2 win over Sayre here Saturday in NTL boys soccer action at the Lockhart Street Bowl.

"We played with all heart today," said first-year Sayre coach Greg Hughey. "We went with a different line-up that started to work, but we were getting use to new spots.

"We had some unlucky bounces of the ball," he noted. "We missed some break away goals, but overall our effort was outstanding."

"I'm proud of my team's efforts. Today's game was very encouraging," added Hughey, whose Redskins lost to Galeton 5-1 last Saturday in the opening round of the Galeton Tournament.

After a scoreless first half, Cochran broke the ice about four minutes after the halftime intermission.

Sayre junior Cody VanBenthuysen tied the game with an unassisted goal with 25:30 remaining in regulation, but Cochran answered with his second goal 3 1/2 minutes later to give Galeton a 2-1 lead.

VanBenthuysen tied the game again with another unassisted goal with 11:26 remaining in regulation.

Galeton outshot Sayre 14-7, and had a 14-5 edge in corner kicks.

Sayre, now 0-3-1, hosts Towanda Monday.
