ONEONTA "” Seniors Sheridan Talada and Elizabeth Fritzen both finished in the top 10 to lead Waverly to a fifth-place finish here Saturday at the Drew Forbes Cross Country Invitational.

Waverly finished with 131 placement points, and Athens was 11th with 320. Ithaca won the team title with 51 points, and Mohonasen was runner-up with 56 points.

Talada clocked in at 19:37.2 on the 5K course to finish third, and Fritzen placed ninth in 20:50.5.

Sophomore Olivia Nittinger finished 19th for the Lady Wolverines in a time of 21:35.2, while senior Paige Ackley was 38th in 23:03.2, and sophomore Aubrey Akins was 104th in 28:34.3.

Junior Hali Jenner finished 109th in 28:54.9, while senior Rachel Ovedovitz was 123rd in 30:55.8, and senior Morgan Lee was 129th in 32:27.7.

Freshman Emma Bronson was Athens' top finisher, clocking in at 22:12.9 to finish 28th, and junior Allyson Rockwell (27:30.4) and Elizabeth Carey (27:31.6) finished 95th and 96th, respectively.

Sophomore Arin Rockwell finished 117th in 29:34.2, while sophomore Raven McCarthy-Gardner was 125th in 31:38.7, freshman Abby Prickitt was 130th in 32:42.0, and sophomore Emily King was 140h in 36:53.9.

Waverly returns to action Tuesday at Watkins Glen, while Athens travels to Sullivan County.

MODIFIED / JUNIOR HIGH

Athens' Sara Bronson won individual gold, and her teammates Cailyn Conklin, Janae Harkins and Thea Bentley, and Waverly's Elizabeth Vaughn all finished in the top 10 of the modified race.

Delhi won the team title with 23 placement points, and Athens was second with 34.

Bronson won the 1.5-mile race in a time of 9:02.9, while Conklin was seventh in 9:55.3, Harkins was eighth in 10:00.6, and Bentley was 10th in 10:13.0. Emily Henderson finished 22nd for the Wildcats in a time of 11:22.5, and Nena Sanders was 35th in 14:06.2.

Vaughn finished ninth in 10:03.9, while Allison Barrett was 20th in 11:12.5, and Harper Minaker was 21st in 11:20.0.
