THE VALLEY — A very busy week begins with seven varsity events on Monday, with home soccer, volleyball, and field hickey games all on the docket for Valley sports fans.

The marquee match-up of the day, however, features the Athens boys on the road at Maine-Endwell for an intriguing non-league soccer match-up.

BOYS SOCCER
Athens (2-0) at Maine-Endwell (3-0), 5 p.m.:
The Wildcats are coming off an 11-1 win over North Penn-Liberty Saturday, while the Spartans blanked Union-Endicott, 3-0, Friday.

Athens won the District 4, Class AAA title and advanced to the PIAA quarterfinals last season, while Maine-Endwell lost to Vestal in the Section IV, Class A title game.

Towanda (0-2) at Sayre (0-3-1), 5:30 p.m.:
The Redskins are coming off a 3-2 overtime loss to Galeton Saturday, while the Black Knights dropped a 10-0 non-league decision to Elk Lake.

GIRLS SOCCER
O-M (1-3) at Tioga (1-1), 4:30 p.m.:
The Lady Tigers are coming off a 9-2 loss to SVEC Wednesday, while the Lady Indians dropped a 4-1 decision to Small School power Groton.

Waverly (2-0) at Newark Valley, 5 p.m.: The Lady Wolverines are coming off a 2-1 win over Dryden Friday afternoon, while the Lady Cardinals are opening their 2019 season this afternoon.

VOLLEYBALL
O-M (1-0) at Waverly (1-0) , 5 p.m. JV start:
The Lady Wolverines opened the 2019 campaign with a sweep of Watkins Glen Tuesday, while the Lady Indians won their opener against S-VE Thursday, 3-1.

Tioga (3-0) at Watkins Glen (0-2), 5 p.m JV start: The Lady Tigers are coming off a 3-1 win over Dryden Friday, while the Lady Senecas were swept at Newark Valley.

FIELD HOCKEY
M-E (0-2) at Tioga (0-1), 4:30 p.m.:
The Lady Tigers have been off 12 days since a season-opening loss to Marathon at SUNY Cortland, while the nationally-ranked Maine-Endwell dropped a 3-2 decision to Pa. powerhouse Wyoming Seminary College Prep.

JV FOOTBALL

Cowanesque Valley at Athens, 6 p.m.
Sayre at Troy, 6 p.m.
