NTL GIRLS SOCCER: SINDONI SCORES 50TH CAREER GOAL — ATHENS BLANKS SAYRE, 10-0 (24 PHOTOS) (2019-09-10)
Valley Sports ReportATHENS "" Senior Abby Sindoni scored four goals, including the 50th of her career, to lead Athens to a 10-0 win over Sayre here Tuesday afternoon in NTL girls soccer action at Alumni Stadium.
Athens scored four goals in the first 6:13 of the contest to take immediate control of the game.
Just 14 seconds into the game, junior Emma Roe, off a feed from Sindoni, to give the Lady Wildcats a 1-0 lead.
Senior Krista Manning, off a feed from senior Haley Chambers, made it 2-0 about 4 1/2 minutes into the game, and Sindoni scored an unassisted goal 39 seconds later to extend the lead to 3-0.
Sophomore Hannah Walker capped the opening scoring spree off an assist from junior Hannah Blackman to make it 4-0.
About seven minutes later, Sindoni, off a feed from Chambers, scored to push the Athens advantage to 5-0, and Blackman found the net 2 1/2 minutes later to make it 6-0.
Freshman Ally Thoman capped the first-half scoring in the 22nd minute to make it 7-0, which is the lead the Lady Wildcats carried into the half.
Sindoni scored a pair of unassisted goals, and Walker finished off the scoring.
Athens had a 35-3 advantage in shots-on-goal and a 5-1 edge in corner kicks.
Adrianna Barnhart 18 saves in net for the Lady Redskins, Madisyn Joslyn had three saves for the Lady Wildcats.
Athens, now 3-1-1, travels to Wellsboro Thursday, while Sayre, now 0-3, faces Lansing Thursday afternoon in the opening round of the Watkins Glen Tournament.
