Valley Sports ReportWAVERLY "” Sophomore Willow Sharpsteen was a triple-winner, and sophomore Delaney Vascoe was a double-winner to lead Waverly to a 98-66 win over Notre Dame here Thursday afternoon in IAC girls swimming action.
Both teams registered six wins, but the Lady Wolverines used superior depth to improve to 2-0.
Sharpsteen won the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 2:24.8, and Sophia DeSisti was second in 2:27.21.
Sharpsteen also won the 100-yard butterfly in a time of 1:10.08, and Mackenzie Nichols was third in 1:18.99.
Sharpsteen teamed with Vascoe, NIchols, and DeSisti to win the 200-yard freestyle relay in a time of 1:58.37.
Vascoe won the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 1:24.47, and DeSisti was second in 1:33.58.
Maggie Whitley won the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 1:02.93, and Luci Burnett was second in 1:16.21. She finished second in the 50-yard freestyle in 27.36 seconds.
Josie VanDyke won the 1-meter diving competition with 115.4 points.
Swimming as exhibition, the quartet of Benjamin, Nichols, Mara Callear, and DeSisti won the 400-meter relay in a time of 4:32.47.
Benjamin finished second in the 200-yard IM in a time of 2:38.56, and Vascoe was third in 2:39.19. Benjamin also finished second in the 100-yard backstroke in a time of 1:12.57, and Nichols was third in 1:20.39.
Callear finished second in the 500-yard freestyle in a time of 6:35.36, and Rachel Smith was third in 7:46.88.
Waverly returns to action this weekend when it hosts the Waverly Swimming & Diving Invitational.
