WOMEN'S COLLEGE GOLF: WAVERLY GRAD TOMASSO GETS FIRST TASTE OF DIVISION I GOLF (2019-09-14)

HAMBURG, N.J. - Waverly grad Alex Tomasso, a freshman on Merrimack College women's golf team, got her first taste of Division I action last weekend, and finished 42nd here at the FDU Fall Invitational at Crystal Springs Country Club.

Tomasso, who finished fifth on the Merrimack team, shot rounds of 91 and 96 for a two-day total of 187.

Fairleigh Dickinson's Nicola Smith won the tournament with a 3-over par, two-day total of 147, and her teammate Caterina Tatti finished second at 151. Lehigh's Minuette Lessig and Wagner's Heather McLean tied for third at 155.

FDU won the team title with a four-player aggregate score of 607, while Lehigh was second at 630, and Wagner was third at 664. Merrimack finished seventh at 699.

Merrimack, currently transitioning to Division I, is in action this weekend at the Dartmouth Invitational.
