IAC / NTL GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY: TALADA FINSHES FIFTH, LEADS WAVERLY TO SECOND-PLACE FINISH IN SMALL SCHOOL RANKS (20 PHOTOS) (2019-09-15)

OWEGO "” Senior Sheridan Talada posted the best finish of any Valley runner to help Waverly to a fifth-place finish - second in the Small School ranks - here Saturday in girls race at the Owego Cross Country Invitational on the Owego High School course.

Horseheads won the team title with 62 placement points, while Montrose was second and won the Small School title with 94 points. Waverly had 146 points. Sayre, Athens, and Tioga did not field full teams.

Talada clocked in at 19:07.1 to finish fourth, while senior Elizabeth Fritzen was 13th for the Lady Wolverines in a time of 20:24.4, and sophomore Olivia NIttinger was 17th in 20:54.3.

Senior Paige Ackley finished 37th in 22:14.8, while junior Hali Jenner was 102nd in 26:58.9, and senior Moran Lee was 119th in 21:20.5.

Senior Kayla Hughey placed 24th for Sayre in a time of 21:20.5, and freshman Corey Ault was 107th in 27:29.0.

Freshman Emma Bronson paced Athens' efforts with a 42nd-place finish in a time of 22:32.6, and sophomore Elizabeth Carey was 88th in 26:05.6,

Sophomore Mariah Nichols was Tioga's top runner, finishing 103rd in a time of 27:00.0, and sophomore Nicole DeBoer was 122nd in 31:59.0.

JUNIOR VARSITY
Waverly sophomore Aubrey Akins had the top Valley finish in the junior varsity race, finishing 29th in a time of 27:11.8, and senior Kaylee Akins was 50th in 31:00.4.

Athens freshman Abby Prickitt finished 37th in a time of 28:30.8, while sophomore Raven McCarthy-Gardner was 56th in 32:49.8, sophomore Arin Rockwell was 59th in 32:59.5, and sophomore Emily King was 60th in 34:38.5.
