BROCKPORT, N.Y. — Athens grad Mitch Kerrick, a junior on the SUNY Brockport football, delivered a key coffin-corner punt to help the Golden Eagles to a 14-0 win over Framingham State in their home opener Saturday afternoon.
Kerrick bombed a 56-yard punt that pinned Framingham at its 3-yard line midway through the third quarter. On the next play, Brockport broke a scoreless tie with a pick-six.
Kerrick punted six times for an average of 34.8 yards, and knocked two of the punts inside the Framingham 20-yard line. None of Kerrick’s punts were returned.
In Brockport’s 33-7 loss to Hobart College in Week 1, Kerrick punted six times for an average of 27.2 yards. Only one punt was returned, and that was for just four yards.
Brockport, now 1-1, returns to action Saturday at Buffalo State.
