WAVERLY "” Waverly, ranked 18th in the State, had five runners finish in the top 10, led by junior Collin Wright, to rack up four wins here Tuesday afternoon in IAC boys cross country action at Tomasso's Golf Course.

Waverly tallied 31 placement points, while Dryden had 45, SVEC had 58, and Marathon amassed 101 points. Whitney Point fielded and incomplete team.

Wright finished second in a time of 15:59.9, well off the pace of first-place finisher SVEC junior Callum Avery, who clocked in at 15:42.9.

Sophomore Nate Ackley finished fifth in a time of 17:16.3, while senior Brandon Bubniak was sixth in 17:31.0, junior Jayden Rose was eighth in 17:44.6, and sophomore Liam Traub was 10th in 18:30.1

Sophomore Hunter Elston finished 13th in 18:35.1 for the Wolverines, while sophomores Matt Atanasoff (19:12.9), Gavin Schillmoeller (19:30.4), and Sam VanDyke (19:36.5) finished 16th through 18th, respectively, and freshman Jerrell Sackett was 27th in 20:42.9.

Senior Francis Chandler was 29th in a time of 20:53.6, and sophomore Joe Fritzen was 37th in 24:52.9.

Liam Wright finished third in the modified boys race in a time of 9:47.9, while Jake VanHouten was fourth in 10:09.7, Peyton Fravel was fifth in 10:12.4, and Hayden Larson was sixth in 10:21.4.

Waverly was the only full team in the race.

Riley Pipher finished 12th for the Wolverines in a tie of 11:11.3, and Ben Norton-Lantz was 15th in 13:31.1.

Waverly returns to action Saturday at the McDaniel-Baxter Invite at Chenango Valley High School.
