ATHENS' BRONSON WINS MODIFIED RACE

BINGHAMTON "” Senior Sheridan Talada ran to a first-place finish to lead Waverly to fourth-place here Saturday at the McDaniel-Baxter Cross Country Invitational at Chenango Valley High School.

Bayard-Rustin claimed the team title with 29 points, while Troy was second with 84, Maine-Endwell was third with 105 points, and the Lady Wolverines, without one of their top four runners, amassed 106 points.

Talada clocked in at 15:56 - 13 seconds ahead of runner-up Sofia Piccone of Bayard-Rustin, while senior Elizabeth Fritzen finished fourth in 17:08, and senior Paige Ackley was 10th in 17:49.

Junior Hali Jenner finished 58th for the Lady Wolverines in a time of 22:51, while sophomore Aubrey Akins was 62nd in 23:37, senior Rachel Ovedovitz was 70th in 25:43, and senior Kaleigh Akins was 72nd in 28:04.

Freshman Emma Bronson led the Lady Wildcats across the finish line, placing 15th in a time of 18:00, while sophomore Emily King was 65th in 24:11, and freshman Abby Prickitt was 71st in 27:04.

MODIFIED / JUNIOR HIGH RACE

Athens' Sarah Bronson won the modified girls race, leading Athens to the McDaniel-Baxter XC Invitational team title Saturday morning.

Athens tallied 60 team points, while Horseheads was second with 72 and Corning was third with 85.

Bronson clocked in with a time of 8:40, edging out Troy's Alyssa Parks by two seconds.

Cailyn Conklin finished eighth in a time of 9:32 for the junior Wildcats, while Thea Bentley was 13th in a time of 9:47, and Janae Harkins was 16th in 9:52.

Emily Henderson finished 41st for Athens in a time of 11:02, while Neena Sander was 66th in 12:40

Elizabeth Vaughn led Waverly's efforts, finishing 10th in a time of 9:41, while Harper Minaker was 18h in 9:58, and Allison Barrett was 42nd in 11:06
