CANDOR "” Junior Gabby Picco and freshman Kennedy Westbrook each scored two goals and doled out three assists, and senior Sadie VanAllen also scored twice to lead Waverly to an 8-0 win over SVEC here Monday afternoon in IAC South Large School Division girls soccer action.

"I was very impressed with how well the girls passed today," said Waverly coach Tara Hogan. "Our movement off the ball was impressive.  

"Our forwards - Sadie and Lea VanAllen, along with Kennedy Westbrook - made some great runs and had impressive passing in and around the 18," noted Hogan. "I can't count how many opportunities Gabby Picco set up, and Kennedy is such a ball of energy - she is constantly making runs and wants the ball."

Sadie VanAllen, off a feed from Picco, scored 99 seconds into the game to give the Lady Wolverines a quick 1-0 lead.

SVEC's Madelynn Pasto knotted the score at 1-1 with 23:58 remaining in the first half, but Picco - off an assist from Westbrook - scored about 7 1/2minutes later to take the lead for good at 2-1.

 Westbrook made it 3-1 with a header off a corner kick by Picco with 8:46 remaining in the half, and Sadie VanAllen capped the first-half scoring, off an assist from Westbrook, about 6 1/2 minutes later extending the lead to 4-1.

Picco, off an assist from Sadie VanAllen, scored 52 seconds into the second half to make it 5-1.

Westbrook, off a feed from Picco, made it 6-1 with 28:49 left in the contest, and Kylie Payne's first career goal about 6 1/2 minutes later pushed the Lady Wolverine advantage to 7-1.

Eighth-grader Lea VanAllen, off an assist from Westbrook, capped the scoring in the final 10 minutes.

"I was happy to see more girls getting involved in the play," said Hogan. "This was another game where multiple players scored and assisted.  

"It's also nice to see Alyvia Daddona and Hayleigh Moran improve consistently," she added.

Waverly outshot SVEC 34-2, and had a 3-0 edge in corner kicks.

Junior Kaitlyn Clark recorded three saves in net for Waverly.

Waverly, now 7-1, returns to action Monday when it hosts Watkins Glen.
