ROCHESTER — Seniors Sheridan Talada finished third and Elizabeth Fritzen was 15th in the Girls Unuseeded A-2 race at prestigious McQuaid Invitational, hosted by McQuaid Jesuit H.S. here Saturday.

There were 244 runners in the A-2 race alone on 3-mile course at Genesee Valley Park.

Talada clocked in at 18:48.1, and Fritzen finished in 20:17.5, while senior Paige Ackley was 44th in 21:36, and junior Hali Jenner finished 215th in a time of 27:06.6.

Freshman Emma Bronson led Athens’ effort with a 51st-place finish in a time of 21:49.1, while junior Allyson Rockwell was 200th in 26:36.6, sophomore Arin Rockwell was 214th in 27:04.1, and freshman Abby Prickitt was 221st in 27:29.2.

Both Waverly and Athens had runners scratched from the race for not completing the first two miles in 18 minutes.

Waverly returns to action Tuesday against Dryden at Tompkins-Cortland Community College, while Athens travels to Cowanesque Valley.

Athens, Waverly, and Sayre will run Thursday in the annual Tom Koons Valley Meet at the Litchfield Elementary School.
