LOCK HAVEN — Athens grad Shane Colegrove, a junior on the Lock Haven men’s soccer team, scored his first goal of the season, and did so in dramatic fashion, lifting the Bald Eagles to 4-3 double-overtime win over New York Tech Tuesday night at Hubert Jack Stadium.
Lock Haven trailed 2-0 early in the second half, but Andrea DiSomma scored three goals in a six-minute span to put the Eagles up 3-2.
After NYIT tied the game in the 62nd minute, the team battled through the remaining 28 minutes and the first 10-minute overtime without finding the goal.
With 1:16 remaining in the second overtime, Colegrove made a backside run on a corner kick, and was able to head the ball into the net for the game-winner.
Colegrove has one goal and one assist this season. For his career, Colegrove has eight goals, including four game-winners, and four assists.
Lock Haven, now 4-5 and winners of back-to-back double-OT games, returns to action Sunday afternoon at East Stroudsburg.
