IAC BOYS SOCCER: STATE-RANKED TRUMANSBURG BLANKS WAVERLY, 4-0 (2018-10-07)

Valley Sports Report
TRUMANSBURG "" State-ranked Trumansburg scored three times in the first 16 minutes of the game en route to a 4-0 win over Waverly here Monday afternoon in IAC boys soccer crossover action.

"The boys played well," said Waverly coach Eric Ryck. "Our goal was to manage this game the best we could defensively, and try to create some quick transition opportunities.

"We had a free kick and corner opportunity very early in the game that both narrowly missed the mark," he noted. "Trumansburg answered pretty quickly with their first goal.

"(Trumansburg) was very good at splitting our center backs early on. We were able to shore that up in the second half, and created some good opportunities as well.

"I was really pleased with the decision-making and effort of this young team," added Ryck.

Will Pritchard scored in the fourth minute to give the Blue Raiders, ranked 16th in Class, and early 1-0 lead.

Joseph Morpurgo scored in the 13th minute, and Pritchard made it 3-0 three minutes later.

Kuyler Coffin added the second half's only goal in the 65th minute.

Trumansburg had an 18-3 advantage in shots-on-goal, while both teams had two corner kicks.

Sophomore Cameron McIsaac recorded 14 saves in net for the Wolverines.

Waverly, now 1-8-1, returns to action Monday at Newark Valley.
