NTL GIRLS SOCCER: HANEY NETS HAT TRICK IN SAYRE'S 9-4 LOSS TO MUNCY (2019-10-08)
Valley Sports ReportMUNCY "” Muncy scored six goals in the first 12 minutes, and cruised to a 9-4 win over Sayre here Tuesday afternoon in non-league girls soccer action.
Aleah Bigelow scored a natural hat trick in the first nine minutes, and 44 seconds of the game to give the Lady Indians a 3-0 lead.
Mia Edkin scored once and Ashlyn Fowler scored twice in the next to minutes to extend the Muncy lead to 6-0.
Sophomore Rozlyn Haney scored in the 33rd minute to put the Lady Redskins on the board, and Muncy carried a 6-1 lead into the halftime intermission.
Fowler finished off her hat trick 5 1/2 minutes into the second half, and Bigelow scored her fourth goal with 19:19 remaining in the game to make it 8-1.
Haney, who now has eight goals in the last two games, scored twice in a three-minute span to complete her hat trick and cut the deficit to 8-3.
Avery Bigelow scored on a penalty kick for Muncy with 6:14 left in the contest to complete the scoring.
Muncy outshot Sayre 15-11, while the Lady Redskins had a 5-4 edge in corner kicks.
Kylie Thompson had five saves in net for Sayre, and freshman Adrianna Barnhart had one.
Sayre, now 1-13, hosts Wyalusing Wednesday in its third game in as many days.
