Valley Sports ReportLERAYSVILLE "" Senior Aaron Lane scored one goal and had three assists, and senior Luke Arnold scored twice to lead first-place Athens to a 5-0 win over Northeast Bradford here Tuesday afternoon in NTL boys soccer action.
The Wildcats, now 12-1 overall, remain unbeaten in NTL play, and lead Wellsboro (9-1 in league play) by one game with two league games remaining. Athens travels to Wellsboro Thursday.
Lane, off an assist from sophomore Nate Quinn, scored a little more than 3 minutes into the contest to give Athens a 1-0 lead.
Junior Asher Ellis made it 2-0 when he cleaned up a Lane rebound, and deposited it into the net with 17:02 remaining in the first half.
Four minutes later, senior Luke Arnold, off a feed from Lane, scored to give the Wildcats a 3-0 lead, which it carried into the halftime intermission.
The tandem of Arnold and Lane hooked up again five minutes into the second half, with Arnold driving a shot into the net to make it 4-0.
Midway through the second half, freshman Jared Ammerman finished off the scoring off an assist from senior David Sheftic.
Athens outshot NEB 36-2, and had a 9-3 advantage in corner kicks.
Senior keeper Joel Maslin recorded four saves in net for Athens.
