IAC GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY: TALADA FINISHES FIRST; WAVERLY WINS DIVISIONAL MEET (20 PHOTOS) (2019-10-08)
Valley Sports ReportNEWARK VALLEY - Senior Sheridan Talada ran to a first-place finish, and led Waverly to a team title here Tuesday afternoon at the IAC South Divisional cross country meet.
Waverly had 46 placement points, while runner-up SVEC had 53 points, third-place Edison had 55 points, and fourth-place Newark Valley had 56 points.
Talada clocked in at 20:12.8, well ahead of runner-up Alyssa Walker of Notre Dame, who finished in 20:36.4.
Senior Elizabeth Fritzen finished third at 21:19.7 for the Lady Wolverines, while senior Paige Ackley was eighth in 22:20.2, sophomore Aubrey Akins was 24th in 28:33.4, and junior Hali Jenner was 25th in 28:56.0.
Senior Kaylee Akins finished 28th for Waverly in a time of 28:33.4, and senior Morgan Lee was 29th in 31:59.1.
Sophomore Mariah Nichols finished 19th in a time of 27:14.9 to lead Tioga, while sophomore Kate Burrowes was 26h in 28:57.4, and Nicole DeBoer was 30th in 32.54.2.
Waverly and Tioga return to action Friday at the Newark Valley Invite.
