YOUTH FOOTBALL: WAVERLY WINS 'A' GAME; SAYRE ROLLS IN 'B' AND 'C' GAMES (10 PHOTOS) (2019-10-09)

WAVERLY - Waverly pitched a shutout in a defensive battle in the "A" game, while Sayre's "B" and "C" teams notched wins here Sunday afternoon in Northern Tier Youth Football League action at Memorial Stadium.

"C" Game (1st- & 2nd-grade)
Sayre 29, Waverly 0

Elliott Chilson scored four TDs in the first half to lead Sayre to a 26-0 win over Waverly in the "C" game.

Sayre opened the scoring with a safety, then Chilson added scoring runs of 36 yards and 1 yard in the first quarter. Chilson and Trenton Lynch tacked on extra points to give the junior Redskins a 16-0 lead at the end of the first quarter.

Chilson scored on runs of 17 and 35 yards in the second quarter, and Lyam Morningstar would add and extra point to push the lead to 29-0.

Qwnton Taylor, Ricky Sindoni, Liam Barton, and Brayden Bowman led Waverly on defense.

"B" Game (3rd- & 4th-grade)
Sayre 18, Waverly 7

Sayre scored in each of the first three quarter to build an 18-0 lead en route to an 18-7 win over Waverly in the "B" game.

Nolan Raupers scored on a 2-yard run to give Sayre a 6-0 lead at the end of the first quarter.

Jayden Morningstar scored from 5 yards out to end the second quarter, giving Sayre a 12-0 lead at the half.

Blake Zingeser scored on a 2-yard run in the third quarter to give Sayre an 18-0 lead entering the fourth quarter.

Griffin Walter's 17-yard TD pass to Chase Sinsabaugh put Waverly on the board in the fourth quarter. Brody Lambert's pass to Walter accounted for the extra point.

Jeremy Cleveland, Alex Murray, and Lambert led Waverly on defense.

"A" Game (5th- & 6th-grade)
Waverly 6, Sayre 0

Bryce Laforest's 10-yard TD run in the second quarter was the game's only score in Waverly's 6-0 win  over Sayre Sunday.

The Sayre offense was led by the rushing of Kaden Kithcart and Drayton DeKay, and the passing of Hogan Shaw. The Sayre defense was led by James Howey, Cooper Jones, Brendan Cooke, and Kithcart.

The Waverly rushing attack was led by Brance Vanalstine, Laforest, and Ben Shaw. The defense was led by John Parker Larson, Tristan Campbell, and Shaw. Laforest and Aiden Strope had interceptions for Waverly.

FLAG GAME: Sayre and Waverly played  to a tie. Robert Henderson, Blake Bentley, and Dallas Harbst scored TDs for Waverly.
