Valley Sports ReportATHENS "” Unbeaten powerhouse North Penn-Liberty got off to a fast start, and rolled to a sweep of Athens here Thursday night in NTL Large School volleyball action.
NP-L opened with a 25-6 win, then closed out the match with wins of 25-11 and 25-17 to snap the Lady Wildcats' five-match win streak.
"NP-L is a great team," said Athens coach Heather Hanson. "We played hard and had some great digs and saves."
Junior Taylor Field led Athens with six service points, and 16 digs, while freshman Jenny Ryan had three points, three kills, and two digs, and señor Cassidy Stackpole had three points and three digs.
Junior Kayleigh Miller had two points, three setter assists, and six digs for Athens, while junior Grayce Witherow added two points and four digs, junior Leah Liechty registered three blocks and one kill, and junior Kylie Jayne had two blocks and one kill,
Senior Haley Barry recorded nine digs for the Lady Wildcats, while Audrey Hatch had two blocks, one kill, and two digs, sophomore Taylor Walker had three blocks, and junior Gia Perri chipped in with two digs.
Maddison Minyo led NP-L with seven points, 15 kills, and 11 digs, while JoAnne McNamara had
10 points and 12 assists, Julia Nawri had five points and 15 assists.,Charisma Grega had 11 points, nine kills, and 13 digs, and Alison Koval had seven points and 11 digs.
Athens, now 9-4, travels to Wellsboro Tuesday.
