HORSEHEADS - Horseheads scored late in the first half, and added an insurance goal in the second half to top Athens, 2-0, here Saturday morning in non-league boys soccer action.

Owen Thorpe scored with 1:46 remaining in the first half to give the Blue Raiders a 1-0 lead.

Owen Foster made it 2-0 with 26:55 left in the game.

Athens had an 8-7 edge in shots-on-goal, while Horseheads had a 9-1 advantage in corner kicks.

Senior Joel Maslin recorded six saves in net for the Wildcats.

Horseheads improves to 8-3-3 on the season.

Athens, now 13-2, returns to action Wednesday at Elmira.
