THE WEEK AHEAD: BIG GAMES ON TAP AS REGULAR SEASONS WINDING DOWN (2019-10-13)

THE VALLEY — The regular season ends for many sports this week, but there are several big games on the docket this week, including the Athens girls playing for a league title Monday, the Sayre football team playing for a division title Friday, and Tioga football looking to clinch another division title Saturday.

The Waverly girls soccer team ends the week playing Dryden in the overall IAC Large School championship at TCCC. The Lady Wolverines are the two-time defending champs.

There are only 25 events on the docket this week, including six on Thursday and five on Saturday.

The following are some, not all, of the events for the upcoming week:

MONDAY (2)
•  The Athens girls host Wellsboro on the soccer pitch at Alumni Stadium with a chance to win the NTL title in their regular-season finale.

TUESDAY (4)
•  The Waverly boys wrap up their 2019 campaign on the soccer pitch against SVEC at Candor H.S.

•  Sayre volleyball hosts Towanda.

•  The Tioga harriers are in action at the Whitney Point Invitational.

WEDNESDAY (4)
•  Waverly volleyball hosts Tioga on the hardwoods.

•  The Sayre girls host Williamson on the soccer pitch at the Lockhart Street Bowl in their final game of the season.

THURSDAY (6)
•  The Athens boys host Galeton on the soccer pitch at Alumni Stadium in their final home game of the season.

•  The Sayre boys host North Penn-Liberty on the soccer pitch.

•  Waverly travels to Edison for a key IAC South Large School volleyball match-up.

•  Sayre volleyball hosts North Penn-Liberty.

FRIDAY (4)
•  Waverly football hosts Division II rival Norwich for its Homecoming game.

•  Sayre football travels to Muncy with the NTL Small School title on the line.

•  Athens football hosts Troy in an NTL Large School game at Alumni Stadium.

•  Tioga volleyball hosts S-VE in its final home match of the season.

SATURDAY (5)
•  The Waverly girls soccer team takes on Dryden for the overall IAC Large School championship at Tompkins-Cortland Community College.

•  Tioga football travels to Moravia for an afternoon game.

•  The Waverly and Tioga harriers are in action at the Marathon Invitational.

•  The Sayre boys host Bloomsburg on the soccer pitch at the Lockhart Street Bowl in their final game of the season.
