ELMIRA "” Noah Sperduto scored the game's lone goal with 3:30 remaining in the contest to lift Elmira to a 1-0 win here in non-league boys soccer action on a rainy Wednesday afternoon.

The defensive battle was played in driving rain at times.

Elmira had a 9-7 advantage in shots-on-goal, and a 3-2 edge in corner kicks.

Athens' keepers Joel Maslin and Asher Ellis combined for eight saves.

Elmira improves to 9-5-1.

Athens, now 13-3, hosts Galeton Thursday in the final home game of the season.
