MARATHON "” Junior Collin Wright and sophomore Nate Ackley led the Waverly boys to a sixth-place finish in the rugged Seeded Division at the Marathon Invitational Saturday, while the Tioga finished 23rd in the Unseeded Division.

Wright finished fourth in a time of 17:14.9, and Ackley was 11th in 18:05.6 to pace the Wolverines.

Elmira won the team title with 73 placement points, while Watkins Glen was second with 88 points, and Horseheads was third with 99 points. Waverly, which finished third in the Small School ranks behind Watkins Glen and Delhi (117 points) tallied 121 points.

Senior Brandon Bubniak finished 30th in 18:57.7 for the Wolverines, while junior Jayden Rose was 37th in 19:13.2, sophomore Liam Traub was 40th in 19:20.4, sophomore Kaden Wheeler was 46th in 19:37.9, and sophomore Hunter Elston was 66th in 21:08.3.

TIOGA FINISHES 23RD IN UNSEEDED DIVISION
Senior Ty Middendorf finished 59th in 20:05 to pace Tioga's efforts in the Unseeded Division.

Owego claimed the team title with 82 placement points, while Jordan-Elbridge with 105 points, Johnson City was third with 121 points, and Elmira was fourth with 190 points. Tioga amassed 562 points.

Sophomore Mason Card finished 129th for the Tigers in a time of 22:00, while sophomore Josh Reis was 140th in 22:37, junior Kyle Earley was 152nd in 23:21, sophomore Colt Herrala was 164th in 25:18, and freshman Max Dydynski was 165th in 25:19.

Freshman Jerrell Sackett finished 100th in a time of 21:13 in the Unseeded race to lead Waverly, while sophomore Sam VanDyke was 108th in 21:22, sophomore Gavin Schilmoeller was 125th in 21:49, and sophomore Joe Fritzen was 17th in 28:06.

BOYS JV RACE
Freshman Zach NIchols finished 119th in a time of 28:09.4 to pace Tioga, while sophomore Dawson Philhower was 127th in 29:52.5, sophomore Jack Cary was 134th in 34:27.5, and Reed Cook was 135th in 37:01.9.
