THE VALLEY "" The Athens girls open play in the state soccer playoffs Tuesday, while Tioga vies for another Section IV title on Friday. Meanwhile, the Section IV volleyball, girls swimming, and cross country postseason gets underway.

There are a minimum of nine events on the docket this week, including three on Tuesday.

MONDAY (0)
No games on the schedule.

TUESDAY (3)
"¢ The Athens girls open play in the PIAA, Class AAA girls soccer playoffs against Berwick at the Balls Mills Soccer Complex.

"¢ The Tioga volleyball team opens the Section IV, Class D playoffs at home against Deposit-Hancock.

"¢ Waverly volleyball is on the road at Lasning in the Section IV, Class C playoff quarterfinals.

WEDNESDAY (1)
"¢ The Waverly girls will swim in the Section IV, Class B prelims at Owego High School.

THURSDAY (2)
"¢ Waverly and Tioga harriers will be in action in the Section IV Cross Country Championships at Chenango Valley State Park.

"¢ If Tioga or Waverly volleyball wins Tuesday, they will be in action at the Section IV semifinals. Tioga at Candor, and Waverly at Windsor.

FRIDAY (2)
"¢ Tioga football vies for its third consecutive Section IV, Class D title, and its eighth in nine years when it faces Walton at Vestal High School.

"¢ The Section IV Girls Diving Championship will be held at Maine-Endwell High School.

SATURDAY (1)
"¢ The Waverly girls will compete at the Section IV Swimming Championships at Watkins Glen High School.
