CORTLAND — Tioga grad Malley Bowen, a senior on the SUNY Cortland volleyball team, played in integral part in the Lady Red Dragons’ sweep of Oswego Tuesday in the quarterfinals of the SUNYAC Championships.
Cortland won by scores of 25-10, 25-22, and 25-13, and will now face Brockport in the semifinals Friday afternoon at SUNY Geneseo.
Bowen had three service points — all aces, to go along with 15 setter assists, and five digs.
On Saturday, at the New York Regional Challenge at RIT, Cortland was swept by NYU, but bounced back with a 3-2 win over RIT.
NYU topped Cortland by scores of 25-22, 25-17 and 25-19.
Bowen had 12 assists, eight digs, and one point in the loss.
Cortland outlasted RIT, 33-31, in their first set, but RIT bounced back with a 25-22 win. Cortland won the third set 25-17, but again RIT answered with a 25-21 win. Cortland won the decisive fifth set 15-12.
Bowen had 22 assists, a season-high 17 digs, 2.5 points, two kills, and one block.
On the season, Bowen has 416 setter assists, 211 digs, 63.5 service points, including 50 aces, 13 kills and one block.
