WATKINS GLEN "”  Sophomore Lourden Benjamin medalled four times, and her classmates Willow Sharpsteen and Delaney Vascoe each won three medals to pace Waverly's efforts here Saturday afternoon at the Section IV, Class B girls swimming & diving championships.

Chenango Valley claimed the Class C team title with 438.5 points, while Maine-Endwell was second with 377.5 points, and Owego was third with 350.5 points. Waverly finished sixth with 169 points.

Benjamin, Vascoe, and Sharpsteen, teamed with junior Maggie Whitley to finish fifth in the meet-opening 200-yard medley relay in a season-best time of 2:06.91 - two seconds faster than their previous best.

Benjamin, Sharpsteen, and Whitley teamed with freshman Sophia Desisti to finish fifth in the 200-yard freestyle relay in a time of 1:54.6.

Benjamin finished sixth in the 200-yard IM in a time of 2:30.05, while Vascoe was seventh in 2:34.38, and Sharpsteen was 10th in 2:37.64. Benjamin finished seventh in the 100-yard backstroke in a time of 1:08.47.

Sharpsteen finished sixth in the 100-yard butterfly in a time of 1:08.69

Vascoe and Desisti teamed with sophomore Mackenzie Nichols and senior Mara Callear to finish sixth in the 400-yard freestyle relay in a time of 4:22.36.

Desisti finished ninth in a personal-best time of 2:15.77 in the 200-yard freestyle - trimming two seconds off her previous best.

Whitley finished 10th in the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 27.09 seconds. She was 12th in the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 1:02.24.

Vascoe was 12th in the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 1:24.34.

Callear placed 15th in the 500-yard freestyle in a time of 6:37.67, and freshman Josie VanDyke was 15th in the 1-meter diving competition with 232.05 points.
