COLLEGE WRESTLING: ATHENS GRAD COURTNEY GOES 1-1 FOR VIRGINIA AT JOURNEYMEN DUALS (2019-11-13)

ALBANY "” Athens grad Brian Courtney, a redshirt sophomore on University of Virginia wrestling team, went 1-1 for the nationally-ranked Cavaliers here Sunday at the Journeymen Duals.

Virginia, ranked 23rd in the nation, opened the day with a 49-0 win over Long Island University.

Wrestling at 141, Courtney registered a fall of Anthony Dushaj in 4:31 to give the Cavs a 15-0 lead.

In their second match, Courtney dropped a 4-2 decision to Navonte Denison, in Virginia's 27-12 loss to Arizona State, which is ranked 8th in the nation.

Courtney is now 3-1 on the season, and has a career mark of 11-4.

Virginia returns to action Sunday at the Wolfpack Open at N.C. State, then will be in action on Nov. 24 at the Keystone Classic in Philadelphia.
