IAC GIRLS SOCCER: TIOGA LANDS THREE ON FIRST-TEAM DIVISIONAL ALL-STAR SQUAD; ONE ON SECOND TEAM (2019-11-14)

TIOGA CENTER "” Tioga landed three players on the IAC South Small School Division first-team all-star team, and one more on the second team in recent voting by the division's coaches.

Senior Mackenzie Macumber, and juniors Destini Sweet and Madison Howey were recognized as first-teamers, while sophomore Gabrielle Foley was a second-team selection.

FIRST TEAM
Mackenzie Macumber, junior, Tioga:
The speedy Macumber, a first-team selection as a junior as well, scored 11 goals, including a pair of hat tricks, and doled out seven assists. She finished with 21 career goals.

"Mackenzie is a superior-conditioned athlete with blazing speed," said Tioga coach Jim Walsh. "She plays without fear, takes a hit, and re-attacks. She is fun to watch."

Destini Sweet, junior, Tioga: A second-team selection as a sophomore, the physical and determined Sweet scored 11 goals and dished out four assists.

"The most complete soccer player on team, Destini has successfully played every single position on the field in her career,"  said Walsh. "She has a high soccer IQ.  

"She is a very tough, physical player," added Walsh. "She is deadly accurate, took all our penalty kicks and all right-side corner kicks."

Madison Howey, junior, Tioga: A holding defender and central defender, Howey, who was a second-team pick last year, scored two goals and had two assists.

"Madison is a versatile and reliable player," said Walsh. "She played a key defensive and distributor role this year.  

"She is a competitor, a gamer, she plays physical, and with a edge," added Walsh. "She has a strong leg, and took all our goal kicks."

SECOND TEAM
Gabrielle Foley, sophomore, Tioga:
Foley recorded 134 saves this seasoning her first year of varsity soccer, and the Lady Tigers were 4-8 with her in goal.

"Gabrielle took on goalkeeper position with enthusiasm, vigor, and natural ability," said Walsh. "The ream really felt her loss when she went out with late-season injury."
