Valley Sports Report
MORRISVILLE, N.Y. - Tioga grad Zach Hutchison, a senior on the Morrisville State football team, made his 35th consecutive start in his final regular-season game, helping the Mustangs to a stunning, come-from-behind, 24-21, win over over nationally-ranked Brockport here Saturday afternoon in Empire-8 football action at Drake Field.

Morrisville State trailed 21-7 with 5:43 remaining in the first half, but rallied to take a 24-21 lead late in the third quarter.

Brockport, ranked 22nd in the nation, entered the game allowing just 22 yards per game on the ground, but Mustangs were able to grind out 92 rushing yards, behind Hutchinson and company.

The Morrisville offense line also allowed QB Bill Flatow, who was only sacked once, time to show for 265 yards and one TD.

The loss is Brockport's first against an Empire-8 foe since the 2016 season.

Morrisville's offense was ranked No. 2 in the Empire-8 Conference, averaging 420 yards per game. The Mustangs also lead the league in both passing offense and offensive efficiency, averaging 290.4 yards per game passing and 154.6 in efficiency. They also lead the Empire 8 in touchdowns scored with 48.

The win keeps the Mustangs hopes alive for a post-season bowl bid as they finish the regular season with a 6-4 overall record, 4-2 Empire 8 slate.
