NTL GIRLS SOCCER: ATHENS' SINDONI NAMED LEAGUE'S 'PLAYER OF YEAR;' CHAMBERS, PITTS ALSO EARN TOP HONORS; SIX LADY WILDCATS NAMED ALL-STARS (2019-11-19)

Reigning two-time District 4, and eight-time NTL champ Athens earned a trio of top awards in recent voting by the league's coaches with senior Abby Sindoni named the "Player of the Year," and the league's all-state selection, senior Haley Chambers tabbed as the "Defensive Player of the Year," and Rich Pitts being named "Coach of the Year."
Possessing speed, and a pure desire to finish, Sindoni netted 24 goals, and dished out 13 assists to help the Lady Wildcats to a 15-3-2 record.
A gifted athlete, Chambers directed the Athens back line, which played an integral part in the team allowing just 12 goals in 20 games, and just six over its last 18, including 13 shutouts.
In his four years at Athens, Pitts has taken the program to the next level. Not only has Athens continued its success in the NTL, with four more league titles under Pitts, but the Lady Wildcats have won back-to-back District 4 titles for the first time in school history. Pitts is 61-11-4 in his time at Athens.
FIRST TEAM
Haley Chambers, senior, defense: See above.
Emma Roe, junior, midfield: Roe, who Pitts refers to as the "engine of our team", is a tireless worker with good foot skills, good speed, and good vision. She was second on the team with 14 goals and 10 assists.
Abby Sindoni, senior, forward: See above.
SECOND TEAM
Hannah Blackman, junior, midfield: Fast and physical, Blackman is a versatile players for the Lady Wildcats. She had four goals and four assists.
Bailey Dakos, senior, defense: A seasoned defense, Dakos was a key cog in the Lady Wildcats' defense. She had one goal and two assists.
Hannah Walker, sophomore, forward: Fast and determined, Walker is a fiery competitor. She had 10 goals and five assists on the season.
