NEW YORK STATE GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY: WAVERLY'S TALADA FINISHES 54TH IN FEDERATION CUP MEET (3 PHOTOS) (2019-11-23)
Valley Sports ReportWAPPINGER FALLS, N.Y. - Waverly senior Sheridan Talada finished 54th in a field of 249 runners here Sunday at the New York State Federation Cup meet at Bowdoin Park.
Talada, who is the first Waverly harrier to run in the Fed Cup meet, clocked in at 19:59.0 in her final high school cross country meet.
"This was the moment all of her training, dedication and personal goals led to," said Waverly cross country coach Nate Culver. "She could not have asked for better weather, finer competition or a better course to end her cross country season.
"She mentioned her strength on hills paid off as she was able to make multiple moves past nearby competition," he noted.
"To see Sheridan in her element as one of the best in the State, doing what she loves, was truly a humbling experience," added Culver.
Talada qualified for the Federation Cup meet, which is designed to crown one state champ, by finishing 15th in last weekend's New York State Class C Championship at Plattsburgh.
