SECTION IV GIRLS INDOOR TRACK & FIELD: TALADA BREAKS OWN SCHOOL RECORD IN FIRST MEET OF SEASON (17 PHOTOS) (2019-12-01)
Valley Sports ReportCORTLAND - Fresh off winning a medal at the New York State Cross Country Championships, Waverly senior Sheridan Talada opened the indoor track & field season with a school-record performance here Saturday at the 607 Invite at SUNY Cortland.
Talada won the 3,000-meter run in a school-record time of 10:51.73, breaking her own record of 10:55.37, which she set at last year's State Indoor Championship meet.
Seniors Paige Ackley, Zoe Lunduski, and Elizabeth Fritzen, and sophomore Emily Tully teamed to finish second in the 1,600-meter sprint relay in a time of 4:49.33.
Lunduski finished second in the 1,500-meter race walk with a time of 10:42.46, and senior Rachel Ovedovitz was fourth in 10:59.91.
Ackley finished third in the 1,000-meter run in a time of 3:36.31, and senior Alyssa Simonetti finished third in the 55-meter hurdles in a time of 10.06.
Lunduski, Simonetti, Tully, and Ackley teamed to finish fourth in the 800-meter relay in a time of 2:11.04.
Eighth-grader Elizabeth Vaughn finished sixth in the 1,500-meter run in a time of 5:47.62, and Tully finished seventh in the high jump at 3-feet, 9-inches.
Senior Marissa Eisenhower finished eighth in the shot put with a heave of 29-feet, 2-inches, and sophomore Taylor Hall was 17th at 21-feet.
Waverly returns to action Dec. 14 at the Ithaca Bomber Invite.
