IAC BOYS BOWLING: VANDERPOOL, MAUERSBERG PACE WAVERLY IN SEASON-OPENING SWEEP OF NOTRE DAME (2019-12-03)

WAVERLY "” Freshman Zach Vanderpool opened the 2019-20 season with a 700 series, and junior Matt Mauersberg rolled his first 600 series to lead Waverly to a sweep of Notre Dame here Tuesday afternoon in IAC boys bowling action at the Valley Bowling Center.

The Wolverines won by scores of 986-771, 1,022-806, and 1,026-829 for a total-pinfall victory of 3,034 to 2,406.

Vanderpool banged out games of 246, 245, and 224 for a 715 series, and Mauersberg rolled games of 213, 180, and 213 for a 606 series.

Senior Derrick Canfield rolled a 585 series, including a 213 game, while freshman Ashton Pritchard had a 542, sophomore Cody Blackwell added a 519, and junior Richard Stevens tacked on a 511.

Stephen Schmidt led Notre Dame with a 507.

Waverly hosts Dryden Thursday.
