Waverly (6-13 in 2018-19) at Newark Valley (1-4 in 2018-19), 6:30 p.m.: The Wolverines visit Newark Valley tonight in a match-up of former Section IV powerhouses in re-building mode.
We're going to see where we're at against Newark Valley," said Waverly coach Devan Witman. "They still have a lot of talent in their line-up.
"I'm excited to see where we're at," he noted. "It's going be a test for us.
"I think it's going to be a return to the rivalry we've had in year's past," added Witman.
Waverly returns several starters led by senior Ethan Stotler (36-6 last year), sophomore Garrett Skeens (28-17), senior Rylan Laforest (25-13), freshman Gage Tedesco (8-11), junior Austin Kimble (18-22), and junior Trevor Meyers (17-21).
Newark Valley also returns several starters, led by junior Cameron Carrier (25-10), junior Josh Duke (11-4), sophomore Connor Jacobson (25-17), junior Joey Woodmansee (21-14), senior Mike Post (15-11), and senior Noach Shiel (15-15).
Waverly won last year's match-up, 51-36.
