THE VALLEY "” Wrestling rules the day Saturday, with the featured event here being the annual Jarvis Memorial Tournament at Athens.

Waverly, Sayre, and Tioga are all in action at different tournaments today.

WRESTLING
Athens HOSTS Jarvis Tournament, 9 a.m.: 
Athens hosts the annual Jarvis Memorial Tournament with 11 teams from three states slated to be in attendance.

Joining Athens from Pa. will be Belmont Charter and Marianna Brecetti Academy from District 12, and Scranton, West Scranton, and Wilkes-Barre Area from District 2.

From New York, Chenango Forks and Johnson City will represent Section IV, and Section II power Falconer will also be on hand.

Kennebunk and Massabesic will both be in town from Maine again this year.

There are nine returning state place-finishers expected to wrestle, and several more state qualifiers.

Waverly at Mark Stephens Classic, 10 a.m.: Waverly posted a 2-1 record on Day 1 of the Stephens Classic, and will face Middletown, Penfield, Horseheads "˜B." and Cortland on Saturday.

Seniors Ethan Stotler and Trent Skeens, juniors Trevor Meyers, sophomore Garrett Skeens, and freshman Gage Tedesco were all 3-0 for the Wolverines on Day 1.

Sayre at Wyalusing Duals, 9 a.m.: First-year coach Ralph Warner and the Redskins are in action today at the annual Gary Woodruff Ram Duals.

Also on hand will be Blue Ridge, Elk Lake, Pocono Mountain East, Scranton Prep, Wallenpaupack, and Wyalusing.

Tioga at Wellsville Tournament, 9 a.m.: The powerhouse Tigers open the 2019 at the Wellsville Tournament, with what should be a near-complete compliment of wrestlers.

In the past, Tioga has attended the Webster-Schroeder Tournament, but it is now a Duals tournament, and coach Kris Harrington opted for an individual tournament instead.

BOYS BASKETBALL
Blue Ridge Tip-Off Tournament
Sayre (1-0) vs. Susquehanna (0-1), 5 p.m.:
The Redskins opened the season with a 67-59 win over Blue Ridge Friday, while Susquehanna dropped a 53-43 decision to Wyalusing at the Blue Ridge Tip-Off Tournament.

GIRLS BASKETBALL
Towanda Tip-Off Tournament
Sayre (0-1) vs. Western Wayne (1-0), 1:30 p.m.:
The Lady Redskins dropped a 42-23 decision to Blue Ridge at the Towanda Tip-Off Tournament Friday, while Western Wayne topped Towanda, 56-43.
