TIOGA CENTER "” Newfield knocked down 11 3-pointers in the first half, and raced out to a 28-point halftime advantage en route to a 77-44 win over Tioga here Tuesday night in IAC South Small School Division boys basketball action.

Jacob Humble canned trio of 3-pointers and scored 11 points in the first quarter, and Josh Wood, Alex Schwoeble, and LaRon Boykin each added five points as the Trojans led 26-5 after the first eight minutes.

Jalen Hardison and Teagan Moynihan eat connected on a pair of 3-pointers and scored eight points, while Humbler and Schwoeble each canned another 3-pointer in the second quarter. Seniors Sam Taylor and Caleb Allen, and sophomore Isaac Peterson scored four points apiece for the Tigers, and sophomore Casey Stoughton drained a 3-pointer, but Newfield stretched its lead to 54-26 at the half.

Newfield outscored Tioga 17-7 in the third quarter to take a 71-33 lead into the final eight minutes.

Taylor led Tioga with 13 points, including a pair of 3-pointers, while 8th-grader Ethan Perry, sophomore Gavin Godfrey, and Caleb Allen scored six points apiece, Peterson added five points, and junior Derrick Gage chipped in with four.

Humble led Newfield with 14 points, including four 3-pointers, while Schwoeble scored 12 points, Moynihan added nine points, and Hardison tacked on eight.

The Trojans made 14 3-pointers in the game, with eight different players connecting on at least one.

Tioga, now 0-2, returns to action Friday at O-M.
