THE VALLEY "” There's plenty of action in the Valley Thursday, with the Athens girls opening their 2019-20 campaign at home in the new gym, while the Athens wrestlers open their dual season in the old gym.

The Waverly girls are also home tonight, and the Waverly and Tioga bowlers square off at the Valley Bowling Center this afternoon.

WRESTLING
Troy (1-0 overall, 1-0 NTL) at Athens, 6 p.m. (old gym): The Wildcats open their dual season tonight, while the Trojans opened with a 51-24 win over Williamson Tuesday.

Sayre (1-5, 0-1) at Williamson (0-1, 0-1), 7 p.m.: The Redskins are coming off a 62-3 loss at Towanda Tuesday, while the Warriors dropped a 51-24 decision to Troy.

Sayre and Williamson both have two empty spots in their line-up.

GIRLS BASKETBALL
Watkins Glen (3-0) at Waverly (1-1), 5:30 p.m. JV start: The Lady Wolverines are coming off a hard-fought, 63-59, win over Notre Dame Monday, while the Lady Senecas thumped Thomas A. Edison, 60-35.

NP-Mansfield (2-0) at Athens, 6 p.m. JV start: The Lady Wildcats open their 2019-20 season tonight, while the Lady Mountaineers already own wins over Wellsville and Cowanesque Valley.

BOYS SWIMMING
Waverly (3-0) at O-M (3-0), 4:30 p.m.: The Wolverines are coming off a 130-50 win over Lansing Tuesday, while the Indians topped Dryden 103-44.

BOYS BOWLING
Tioga (11-1) at Waverly (8-4), 3:30 p.m.: The Tigers are coming off a sweep of Marathon Tuesday, while the Wolverines were surprisingly swept at Union Springs / Port Byron Wednesday.
