IAC BOYS BOWLING: WAVERLY SALVAGES SPLIT WITH TIOGA (2019-12-12)

WAVERLY - Tioga won two games by a combined five points, but Waverly salvaged a 2-2 split with a 92-pin win in the second game here Thursday afternoon in IAC boys bowling action at the Valley Bowling Center.

The Tigers won the first game 963-962, and the third game 891-887, sandwiched around a 1,013-921 win for the Wolverines, who claimed the total-pinfall point by a total of 2,862 to 2,775.

Freshman Zach Vanderpool led the Wolverines with a match-high 656 series on games of 252, 234, and 170, while sophomore Cody Blackwell rolled a 600 series on games of 185, 226, and 189, and senior Derrick Canfield added a 569 series.

Junior Matt Mauersberg had a 536 for the Wolverines, while freshman Ashton Pritchard added a 501, and junior Richard Stevens tacked on a 418 series.

Eighth-grader Carter Hayes shot a 539 series in reserve for Waverly, and freshman Ethan Roberts had a 466.

Sophomore Rocco Fariello led Tioga with a 600 series on games of 183, 193, and 224, while senior Kolton Pond rolled a 585, including games of 204 and 222, and sophomore Dylan Slater shot a 567.

Jarrett Myers had a 534 for the Tigers, while freshman Gage Cain added a 480, and freshman Frank Chapman tacked on a 405.

Waverly, now 10-6, returns to action Tuesday at Lansing, while Tioga, now 13-3, hosts Groton.
