WAVERLY "” Waverly shook off a slow start, and rolled to a 49-29 win over IAC South Large School rival Watkins Glen here Thursday night in IAC girls basketball action.

The Lady Wolverines trailed 9-7 after the first eight minutes, but freshman Kennedy Westbrook buried a pair of 3-pointers and scored seven points, and senior Sidney Tomasso added six points to field an 18-6 blitz to give them a 25-15 lead at the half.

Westbrook scored seven more points in the third quarter as Waverly extended its lead to 34-21 entering the final eight minutes.

Westbrook added six points in the fourth quarter, and Tomasso scored five points, including a 3-pointer, as the Lady Wolverines put the game away with a 15-6 run.

Westbrook led Waverly with a game-high 21 points, including a trio of 3-pointers, while Tomasso added 15 points, and senior Morgan Adams chipped in with four points.

Kelsey Kernan led Watkins Glen with eight points.

Waverly, now 3-1, returns to action Wednesday at Thomas A. Edison.
