ELMIRA HEIGHTS "” Waverly ran out to a 10-point lead early en route to a 69-36 win over Thomas A. Edison here Wednesday night in IAC South Large School Division girls basketball action.

Junior Sidney Tomasso scored six points, and senior Morgan Adams added five points to fuel an 18-8 first-quarter run for the Lady Wolverines.

Tomasso pumped in 10 points in the second quarter, including a pair of 3-pointers, while Adams scored four more points, and freshman Kennedy Westbrook drained a 3-pointer in a 21-7 blitz that put Waverly ahead 39-15 at the halftime intermission.

Westbrook connected on a pair of 3-pointers, and senior Gianna Picco and sophomore Lourden Benjamin each knocked down one from behind the arc as the Lady Wolverines upped their lead to 57-30 entering the final eight minutes.

Tomasso led Waverly with 18 points - all in the first half, while Adams and Westbrook, who drained three 3-pointers, scored 12 points apiece, sophomore Olivia Nittinger had seven points, Benjamin and PIcco added five points apiece, and junior Alyssa Sindoni and senior Gretchen Sowle chipped in with four points apiece.

K.K. Bush led Edison with 16 points, including four 3-pointers.

Waverly, now 3-1, returns to action Friday at Tioga.
