CORTLAND "" Seniors Cora Smith and Sheridan Talada were triple-winners, and seniors Melina Ortiz and Paige Ackley were double-winners to lead Waverly to a team title here Saturday in the IAC Division at the Quinney Indoor Track & Field Invitational at SUNY Cortland.
Smith won the 3,000-meter run in a time of 11:04.29
Talada, who has already broke her own record twice in the 3,000-meter run this season, won the 1,500-meter run in a new school-record time of 4:55.45, and 8th-grader Elizabeth Vaughn was fourth in 5:43.23. Talada's time broke the old mark of 4:58.61 - held by Kati Hughes in 2000.
Smith and Talada teamed with seniors Elizabeth Fritzen and Paige Ackley to win the 3,200-meter relay in a time of 10:33.32. The duo also teamed with Ackley and Ortiz to win the 1,600-meter relay in a time of 4:42.45.
Ortiz won the 300-meter dash in a time of 44.35 seconds, and sophomore Emily Tully was 10th in 55.5 seconds. She also finished second in the 600-meter run in a time of 1:44.78
Senior Rachel Ovedovitz won the 1,500-meter race walk in a time of 10:36.52 - more than 23 seconds faster than her seed time.
Fritzen finished second in the 1,000-meter run in a time of 3:18.32, and Ackley was third in 3:25.56.
Senior Marissa Eisenhower finished second in the shot put with a heave of 29-feet, 6-inches, and freshman Taylor Hall was ninth at 23-feet, 1 3/4-inches.
Freshman Kelsey Ward, Tully, senior Alyssa Simonetti, and Ovedovitz teamed to finish eighth in the 800-meter relay in a time of 2:21.86.
Senior Zoe Lunduski finished 15th in the 55-meter dash in a time of 8.56 seconds
Waverly returns to action Saturday at the Winter Classic at SUNY Cortland.
