NTL SWIMMING: TRIO OF QUAD-WINNERS LEAD LADY WILDCATS TO WIN; ATHENS BOYS FALL TO ELK LAKE (2020-01-10)

ATHENS "" A trio of Lady Wildcats were quad-winners to lead Athens to a 109-76 win over Elk Lake Thursday evening in non-league swimming action, while the Athens boys dropped a 92-70 decision.

GIRLS
Athens 109, Elk Lake 76

Freshman Taegan Williams, sophomore Brooke Kopatz, and senior Lauren Neville won four events apiece in a 109-76 win over Elk Lake.

Williams won the 200-yard IM in a time of 2:36.70, and freshman Taylar Fisher was second in 2:42.12. Williams also won the 100-yard butterfly in a time of 1:12.6, and senior Christina Bard was second in 1:14.65.

Kopatz won the 500-yard freestyle in a time of 6:32.24, and Fisher was second in 6:39.49 Kopatz also won the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 1:16.78, and freshman Ally Thoman was third in 1:25.94.

Neville won the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 1:03.43, and senior Allyson Rockwell was second in 1:04.56. Neville also won the 100-yard backstroke in a time of 1:15.89.

Kopatz, Williams, Bard and Neville teamed to win the 200-yard medley relay in a time of 2:08.72.

Kopatz, Williams, and Neville teamed with Rockwell to win the 200-yard freestyle relay in a time of 1:56.26.

Rockwell finished second in the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 2:23.62, and Bard was third in 2:28.73.

Sophomore Raven McCarthy-Gardner finished second in the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 29.08 seconds

Junior Emma Roe finished second in the 1-meter diving competition with 164.45 points, and McCarthy-Gardner was third with 131.3 points.

BOYS
Elk Lake 92, Athens 70

Elk Lake won eight of 12 events to best Athens, 92-70.

Junior James Benninger-Jones won the 1-meter diving competition with 155.9 points for the Wildcats,

Sophomore Zac Gowin won the 500-yard freestyle in a time of 6:05.66, and freshman Ethan Denlinger was third in 6:14.04. Gowin finished second in the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 2:13.87.

Junior Mason Henderson won the 100-yard backstroke in a time of 1:16.05, and senior T.J. Toscano won the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 1:21.14.

Henderson finished second in the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 58.18 seconds, and senior Nate Gorsline was third in 59.65 seconds.

Nate Gorsline finished second in the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 25.71 seconds, and T.J Toscano was third in 29.01 seconds.

Denlinger finished second in the 200-yard IM in a time of 2:38.97, and junior Joe Toscano finished second in the 100-yard butterfly in a time of 1:17.2.
