TIOGA CENTER — Tioga built an 11-point halftime lead, and held on to beat Southern Cayuga, 45-34, here Friday evening in IAC junior varsity boys basketball action.
Keon Staples scored nine points in the first quarter to help the Tigers to an 11-4 lead, then Bryce Bailey drained a trio of 3-pointers in the second quarter as they upped their lead to 24-13 at the half.
Staples scored four points in the third quarter, and Tioga maintained its 11-point lead, at 31-20, heading into the final eight minutes.
Staples scored six more points in the fourth quarter, Josh Reis added four points, and the Tigers, who made 7 of 8 free-throw attempts in the first half, made 4 of 6 from the line in the fourth quarter to preserve the win.
Staples led Tioga with 21 points, while Bailey scored 11 points, and Reis added nine.
Tioga returns to action Tuesday when it hosts Notre Dame.
