Valley Sports Report
LIBERTY "” Senior Emily Sutryk and junior Gabbi Randall combined for 40 points to lead Sayre to a 57-30 win over North Penn-Liberty here Thursday night in NTL Small School Division girls basketball action.

"Wins like this go a long way in reassuring us that we know what to do, when we are able to execute our systems," said Sayre coach Eileen Sparduti. "Hopefully that will provide some confidence as we enter a stretch of tough opponents over the next week.

"We were also able to give more of our youngest players a taste of varsity competition," she added. "So, it was a night of winning now and building a future."

Sutryk banged home three 3-pointers, and scored 11 points in the first eight minutes, and Randall added six points as Sayre jumped out to a 19-9 lead.

Randall scored nine points in the second quarter to fuel an 11-2 run that extended the Lady Redskin lead to 30-11 at the half.

Sutryk scored seven points in the third quarter, and four of her teammates added two points apiece in a 15-5 run that gave Sayre a 45-16 lead heading into the final eight minutes.

The Lady Redskins won despite making just 6 of 19 free-throw attempts in the contest.

Sutryk had 21 points, including five 3-pointers, four rebounds, four assists, three steals, and one blocked shot, and Randall had 19 points, a career-high 16 rebounds, including eight offensive boards, five assists, four steals and one blocked shot to lead the Lady Redskins.

Sophomore Jazz DeKay had four points and four rebounds in the win, while Ayla Miller had four points and seven boards, senior Madeline Wilson contributed nine rebounds, five assists, and two blocked shots, and freshman Gabby Shaw added four rebounds and three assists.

Sayre, now 3-10, returns to action Friday when it hosts Canton at 5:30 p.m. in a game originally scheduled for Saturday.
