NTL GIRLS BASKETBALL: NEB RIDES STRONG SECOND HALF TO 43-30 WIN OVER SAYRE (20 PHOTOS) (2020-01-22)

SAYRE "” Northeast Bradford used a strong second half to top Sayre, 43-30, here Wednesday night in NTL Small School Division girls basketball action.

Maisie Neuber knocked down an early 3-pointer and scored seven points in the first quarter to help the Lady Panthers to an 11-5 lead.

Junior Gabbi Randall scored four points in the second quarter, and senior Emily Sutryk and freshman Hali VanDyke each connected on 3-pointers in a 10-5 spurt that pulled the Lady Redskins within one point, at 16-15, at the half.

Lyndsay Moore scored five points in the third quarter, and Kayleigh Thoman added four points, and Lauryn Jones canned a 3-pointer to fuel a 12-5 run that gave NEB a 28-20 lead entering the final eight minutes.

Jones was 4-for-4 from the free-throw line in the fourth quarter, and Neuber and Vicki Rought added four points apiece as  NEB locked down the win with a 15-10 run in the final eight minutes.

Randall led Sayre with 12 points, seven rebounds, three assists, and one blocked shot, while Sutryk added 10 points, four rebounds, and five assists, sophomore Jazz DeKay grabbed five boards, and VanDyke added four boards.

Neuber led NEB with 11 points, while Jones had 10, Thoman and Moore added eight points apiece, and Rought chipped in with six.

Sayre, now 3-13, travels to North Penn-Mansfield Friday.
