NTL SWIMMING: WILLIAMS, KOPATZ LEAD LADY WILDCATS TO 111-47 WIN OVER SAYRE (21 PHOTOS) (2020-01-27)

SAYRE - Freshman Taegan Williams won four events, and sophomore Brooke Kopatz was a triple-winner to lead Athens to a 111-47 win over Sayre here Monday afternoon in NTL girls swimming action.

The Athens boys were swimming unopposed in a 124-0 win.

Seniors Jillian Shay and Kayla Hughey were double-winners for the Lady Redskins, while senior Lauren Neville, junior Allyson Rockwell, and freshman Taylar Fisher were double-winners for the Lady Redskins.

Williams led a sweep in the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 1:20.73, while freshman Ally Thoman was second in 1:22.69, and junior Makenna Galvin was third in 1:31.25.

Williams also won the 200-yard IM in a time of 2:33.66, and Fisher was second in 2:38.71.

Kopatz won the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 1:06.07, while Athens senior Christina Bard was second in 1:06.23, and Sayre's Jade Fairlie was third in a season-best time of 1:26.0.

Fisher won the 100-yard butterfly in a time of 1:17.62, and Athens senior Isabelle Menard was second in 1:35.36.

The Lady Wildcat quartet of Kopatz, Williams, Neville, and Rockwell won the 200-yard freestyle relay in a time of 1:58.17. The same foursome won the 400-yard freestyle relay in a time of 4:30.81.

Fisher, Thoman, Bard and sophomore Raven McCarthy-Gardner teamed to win the 200-yard medley relay in a time of 2:18.09.

Athens junior Emma Roe won the 1-meter diving competition with 139.65 points.

Shay won the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 2:12.06, while Neville was second in 2:19.79, and Rockwell was third in 2:22.0.

Shay also won the 500-yard freestyle in a time of 6:04.5, while Rockwell was second in 6:29.83, and  Galvin was third in 7:07.47.

Hughey won the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 28.13 seconds, while McCarthy-Gardner was second in 28.47 seconds, and Bard was third in 29.71 seconds.

Hughey won the 100-yard backstroke in a district-qualifying time of 1:12.93, while Neville was second in 1:15.96, and Kopatz was third in 1:16.69.

BOYS
Athens 124, Sayre 0

Senior Nate Gorsline, junior Mason Henderson, and freshman Chris DeForest each won four events to lead Athens to a win over Sayre.

Nate Gorsline won the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 2:27.63, while sophomore Reuven Gifeisman was second in 2:31.22, and freshman Isaiah Teeter was third in 3:00.78.

Nate Gorsline also  won the 100-yard freestyle in 1:01.38, while sophomore Zac Gowin was second in 1:01.75, and junior Lucas Aquilio was third in 1:09.36

Henderson, who swam in all three winning relays, won the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 25.53 seconds, while junior Joe Toscano was second in 28.51 seconds, and Gifeisman was third in 28.78 seconds.

DeForest, who also swam in all three winnings relays, won the won the 100-yard butterfly in a time of 1:12.47.

Henderson, and DeForest teamed Joe Toscano, and senior T.J. Toscano to win the 200-medley relay in a time of 2:08.28.

The duo teamed with Nate Gorsline, and Joe Toscano won the 200-yard freestyle relay in a time of 1:46.29. They teamed with Nate Gorsline and Gowin to win the 400-yard freestyle relay in a time of 4:11.03.

Freshman Ethan Denlinger, who was a double-winner, won the 200-yard IM in a time of 2:38.11, and Joe Toscano was second in 2:42.34.

Denlinger also won the 100-yard backstroke in a time of 1:16.82, and Gowin was second in 1:22.1.

T.J. Toscano, also a double-winner, won the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 1:19.09, while Aquilio was second in 1:29.31, and freshman Travis Webster was third in 1:30.00.

Sophomore Kaden Gorsline won the 1-meter diving competition with 180.9 points, and junior James Benninger-Jones was second in 121.45 points.

Athens returns to action Thursday at Elk Lake.
