WAVERLY "” Junior Sidney Tomasso pumped in a career-high 36 points to lead Waverly to a 66-52 win over Notre Dame here Thursday night in IAC South Large School girls basketball action.

It was the second 30-point outing in a row for Tomasso, who scored 30 points Tuesday in a loss at Newark Valley.

Tomasso scored 11 points in the first quarter, including the first of five 3-pointers, and freshman Kennedy Westbrook had four points to help the Lady Wolverines to a 17-15 lead after the first eight minutes.

Tomasso pumped in a trio of 3-pointers in the second quarter, and scored 13 points as Waverly used a 14-9 spurt to extend its lead to 31-24 at the half.

Tomasso scored five more points, including a trey, while senior Gretchen Sowle added four points, and sophomore Olivia Nittinger canned a 3-pointer as Waverly used a 16-13 advantage in the stanza to build a 47-37 lead heading into the final eight minutes.

Tomasso scored seven points in the fourth quarter, while Nittinger knocked down another 3-pointer and had five points, and senior Gianna PIcco drained a 3-pointer as Waverly secured the victory with a 19-15 advantage in the final stanza.

Nittinger and Westbrook added eight points apiece in the Lady Wolverines, and Sowle and senior Morgan Adams chipped in with four points apiece.

Kahlia Rivera led Notre Dame with 16 points, and Shannon Maloney added 10.

Waverly, now 11-3, returns to action Tuesday at Watkins Glen.
