IAC JV GIRLS BASKETBALL: S-VE RIDES THIRD-QUARTER RUN TO 34-26 WIN OVER TIOGA (2020-02-11)
Valley Sports ReportTIOGA CENTER "" S-VE used a 13-0 third-quarter blitz to blow open a close game en route to a 34-26 win over Tioga here Tuesday evening in IAC South Small School Division junior varsity girls basketball action.
Josie Killen and Taya Sousa scored four points apiece in the first quarter to help S-VE to a 14-5 lead.
Tioga's Mariah Nichols scored three points in the second quarter, and three of her teammates added buckets in a 9-4 spurt that trimmed the deficit to 18-14 at the half.
Abby Bunce scored all 13 of S-VE's points in the decisive third-quarter run. The Lady Panthers led 31-14 heading into the final eight minutes.
Gabby Foley and Ashlyn Vance both knocked down 3-pointers and scored five points apiece in a 12-3 fourth-quarter run.
Vance had seven points, eight rebounds, and three steals, and Gabby Foley had seven points and four rebounds to lead Tioga, while Nichols had four points, 11 rebounds, two steals, and two blocked shots, Abby Foley scored four points, and Reese Howey hauled down 12 rebounds and blocked one shot.
Bunch led S-VE with 15 points, and Sousa and Adriana Newman added six points apiece.
Tioga hosts Marathon tonight.
