IAC JV GIRLS BASKETBALL: TIOGA PUTS DEFENSIVE CLAMPS ON MARATHON IN 36-14 WIN (19 PHOTOS) (2020-02-12)

TIOGA CENTER — Tioga limited Marathon to two field goals in the first half, and cruised to a 36-14 win here Tuesday evening in IAC Small School Division junior varsity girls basketball action.

Four different Lady Tigers scored two points in the first quarter as they built an 8-2 lead.

Mariah Nichols and Ashlyn Vance scored four points apiece in the second quarter to fuel an 11-3 run that gave Tioga a 19-5 lead at the half.

Gabby Foley knocked down a pair of 3-pointers in the third quarter to spark a 9-5 spurt that extended Tioga’s lead to 28-10 heading into the final eight minutes.

Gabby Foley led Tioga with nine points and three rebounds, while Nichols had seven points, 13 rebounds and one blocked shot, and Reese Howey had six points, 12 rebounds, including nine on the offensive glass, three steals, and three blocked shots.

Abby Foley had six points, five rebounds, four assists, and five steals in the win, while Vance had six points, nine rebounds, and one blocked shot, and Kyra Bailey grabbed four boards.

Tioga wraps up its season tonight when it hosts Towanda.
